Meet the world's first white jaguar cubs born in captivity

The fluffy white pair were born at Aschersleben Zoo on 19 January and have recently ventured out into the world for the first time.



Still unnamed, the brothers were born to 17-year-old father Mescal, who has a typical spotty coat, and 13-year-old mother Polly, who is jet black.

Zoo official Dieter Reisky said has never heard of a white jaguar being born at any other zoo in the world.

The youngsters are currently white with pale grey markings, however, it is not known how or if their colour will change as they continue to grow.

The jaguar is the third-largest feline after the tiger and the lion, and the largest in the Western Hemisphere. Its habitat range extends from Southern United States and Mexicoacross much of
Central America and south to Paraguay and northern Argentina.
