The buffalo is a ruminant herbivore mammal of the family Bovidae.

The buffalo is a massive bovine, parent bison. It is distinguished by its large, thick horns curved upward, featuring frontal bossing which meet the male. Her dress is brown or black.Buffaloes form herds of tens to hundreds of individuals. The basic herd consists of females of the same family and their little ones, and a dominant male. Other small herds of males (young or old) accompanying them.
Females, called buffalo, reproduce every two years from the age of five. During the mating season, males may fight each other for access to females, but other times the hierarchy does not exist. After 11 months of gestation, they put forth a bufflon 40 kg. The life expectancy of the buffalo is 25 years.

The herd lives in a coordinated fashion, eating, drinking or resting simultaneously. When a predator attacks, buffaloes form a circle around their more fragile counterparts (young or old), using their horns as a barrier. However, when it is time to move the herd waits for no one, not even females who have given birth.
